What To Bring Orienteering

This is a suggested list of what to bring with you:
  • Some clothes that may get wet and or muddy, the club has o-tops but if you have a tendancy to 'feel' the cold you should bring clothes to wear underneath. Shoes are bound to get muddy, and something to change into afterwards.
  • Either something to eat for lunch or some money as we usually go to a pub afterwards for lunch.
  • A compass if you have one BUT do not worry the club has some to lend you
  • A whistle BUT again the club has some to lend you
  • A clear plastic bag of some sort for the map is a good idea, this is used to keep the map dry as they have a tendancy to disintegrate if they get wet.
  • A red pen to mark the map.
  • Something to drink is normally not a bad plan
  • Training sessions are obviously free but for events (which are more fun) you need some money to pay for transport (around £4.00) and for the event (around £4.00)
  • Something waterproof to wear - it is Britain afterall (there is an occasional rule that you have to carry waterproofs or you are not allowed to start)
This list is just a suggestion, if you do not have all of the items on the list do not worry, if you are really concerned you can e-mail  damian.brennan (at) gmail.com and ask.
